The Tartan Terrific is a snowshoe event, consisting of a 5K walk, a 5K run and a 10K run. The 5K run (juniors) and 10K run (seniors) will be qualifiers for the USSSA nationals to be held in the Twin Cities, MN in March 2007! You must be a USSSA member before the event to qualify for the national competition. Please visit www.snowshoeracing.com for more information on USSSA membership.
When is it? Saturday, February 3, 2007. The 10K run will have a 9:30 AM start. The 5K run and walk will both have a 10:00 AM start.
Where is it? Sawmill and Logger's Golf Course, 11177 McKusick Road N, Stillwater, MN. Meet at 8:00 AM in the Sawmill clubhouse for pre-race number pick-up and course info.
What does it cost? $25 if registered by January 13; $35 thereafter. Kids 5 and under are free with a winter carnival button or $2. Show your button at the event or at pre-race packet pickup for $1 discount/rebate. If you are considering registering on race day, please call or email to verify the 200 participant limit has not been reached.
Additional information: 200 participants maximum (expected to be reached early due to the event being a USSSA Nationals qualifier and St. Paul Winter Carnival event). If there is insufficient snow bring your running shoes or boots as it will be a run/walk without snowshoes. You may request a refund ONLY if this occurs and you do not want to run or walk. Sorry, but we will not mail socks, awards or race results.
For the 5K and 10K run, minimum snowshoe size is governed by USSSA rules. See www.showshoeracing.com for more information. The the walk there is no snowshoe size limitation.
There will be one aid station for the 5K course, which is used twice for the 10K course. Sign markers will be placed every mile, with ribbons and spray painted trail markers.

Awards: For the 5K and 10K run, embroidered jackets will be awarded to the overall winners (male and female). Silk screened shirts to the first in age group; plaques to second in age group. Awards based on age as of 12/31/2007. The 5K walk will have awards for the youngest and oldest participants as well as the most members of one extended family participating.
Food/refreshments will be served in the clubhouse after the race, featuring meat and veggie chili. Additional food and refreshments for sale.
